The Cape Breton Miners’ Museum is situated on a 15 acre site next to the Atlantic Ocean, approximately 1 km from downtown Glace Bay. The facility pays tribute to the region’s rich coal mining history. Highlights include an exhibit area featuring information and artifacts on the geological formation of the coal fields and the historical details surrounding the, men and companies that developed this industry and helped build a nation. An underground tour of the Ocean Deeps Colliery by retired miners is a must for any visit. Also on site is a miner’s village comprised of a Company House, Company Store and Restaurant.
