A Rich, Colourful and Playful History. When it’s time to play, performers of music, comedy and song shine behind the soft lights of the intimate setting in the pit at the Louisbourg Playhouse.
A 17th century timber-style theatre with a rustic interior that was modeled after Shakespeare’s original Globe Theatre in London, the Louisbourg Playhouse was once a the setting for the 1993 Walt Disney Studio production of the movie entitled Squanto: A Warrior’s Tale. Following the completion of the movie the theatre was donated to the community of Louisbourg and since that time has been used as a playhouse where each night audiences gather during the season for a variety of spellbinding and spirited performances.
During the intermission there is also an opportunity to visit the mezzanine level for complimentary tea and oatcakes as well as the possibility of interacting one- on-one with the performers of the night.
