Cape Breton Island is Nova Scotia's Masterpiece for a reason—actually, lots of reasons. And much of them have to do with our glorious beaches, parks and trails. For starters, make it a point to witness the ocean cliffs and forested plateau of Cape Breton Highlands National Park. Be sure to visit the famed St. Peter's Canal as well, with its historic lock system connecting the Atlantic and the Bra d'Or Lakes. Another must-see? Point Michaud Beach on our southeastern shore, a place that's perfect for a sandy walk, quick dip, or quiet picnic.
