3 Day Cross Country Skiing Itinerary
Looking for your next cross country skiing adventure? Visit the North Highlands Nordic Ski Club, Ski Tuonela, and Ski Ben Eoin in this 3-day nordic ski itinerary. While you’re on the trials be sure to keep a lookout for bald eagles as the twists and turns lead you to your next adventure.
Day 1
Sydney to Cape North – 176km
Start your Cross Country Skiing Adventure at the North Highlands Nordic Ski Club, which offers 12km of trails, each groomed for both classic and skate by a 16’ wide Piston Bully groomer. Swing into town and grab some take-out before spending the night at the cozy Highlands Hostel.
- Drive to Cape North
- Arrive at North Highlands Nordic Ski Club
- Spend your day on the slopes
- Grab a bite to eat at the Cabot Trail Food Market
- Check-in at the Highlands Hostel
Day 2
Cape North to Goose Cove – 111km
Head south on the Cabot Trail towards Nova Scotia’s only telemark ski run at Ski Tuonela. Once you arrive explore the trails and take in the sights before heading over to your accommodations at Cabot Shores Wilderness Resort. Don’t forget to take advantage of their hot tub!
- Drive towards Ski Tuonela
- Stop for lunch at the Dancing Moose Café
- Arrive at Ski Tuonela and explore the trails
- Drive over to Cabot Shores Wilderness Resort for the evening, and enjoy supper at their GoBistro Restaurant
- Relax in the hot tub or sauna

Day 3
Goose Cove to Ski Ben Eoin – 195km
Head south on the Cabot Trail, over the Englishtown Ferry towards North Sydney before continuing on to Ski Ben Eoin. Upon arrival stretch your legs over the hills 14kms of trails. When you get hungry, pop off the skis and head into the lodge for a quick supper. Take in some night skiing before you head for home.
- Drive towards Ski Ben Eoin
- Fuel up with lunch at the Bras d’Or View Restaurant
- Continue to Ski Ben Eoin and enjoy skiing on over 14kms of trails
- Supper at the Broken Buckle at Ski Ben Eoin
- Leave for home
