Let this 3-day itinerary guide you to incredible destinations that will create memories to last a lifetime.
Day 1
Sydney to Ben Eoin – 40 km
The best part about fall on Cape Breton Island is that you don’t have to go far to enjoy the beautiful fall scenery. The whole Island is covered in deciduous trees and beautiful meandering hiking trails.
- Depart JA Douglas McCurdy Sydney Airport and head for Sydney
- Get breakfast at Selkie’s Neighbourhood Diner
- Hike Coxheath Mountain Trail
- Have lunch at Just in Thyme Homestyle Eatery
- Take a walk on the East Bay Hills Trails
- Spend the night at The Lakes at Ben Eoin Golf Club and Resort
Day 2
Ben Eoin to Baddeck – 95 km
Drive around the Bras d’Or Lake on your way to Baddeck. Baddeck is home to great fall colours, country scenery, great restaurants and waterfalls. You’ll be so busy taking in the fall colours you may forget to sleep!
- Leave Ben Eoin for Baddeck
- Sightsee at Kelly’s Mountain Look-Off
- Have lunch at the Highwheeler Café, Bean There Café in Baddeck
- Hike to Uisge Ban Falls
- Indulge yourself with supper at the Lakeside Restaurant, the Telegraph House or the Lynwood Inn
- Rest up for the night at a great accommodation in Baddeck
Day 3
Baddeck to Mabou – 67 km
This is one of those days that driving to your destination will be just as beautiful as the destination itself!
- Start your day off with breakfast and a coffee from a local café and head west on the Trans Canada highway
- Hike Salt Mountain in Whycocomagh
- Have lunch at the Herring Choker Deli, Café and Bakery or Big Spruce Brewing
- Drive to Brook Village and sample some treats at the Brook Village Grocery store
- Hike either the Cape Mabou Highlands or explore the Celtic Shores Coastal Trail
- Have supper at the Red Shoe Pub or the Glenora Inn and Distillery
- Enjoy a dram of Glen Breton and turn in for the night at Glenora
