Day 1

Skyline Trail to Chéticamp – 22 km

Start your journey with a 7km hike along the breathtaking Skyline Trail, a personal favorite among tourists and locals alike. Take in the sights and sounds of nature as you hike your way to one of Cape Breton Island’s most iconic views.

Start your hike along the Skyline Trail.
Complete your hike and head south towards Chéticamp.
Enjoy a delicious meal at Le Gabriel Restaurant and Lounge.
Rest for the night at the Soleil Chalets.

Day 2

Chéticamp to Baddeck – 88 km

Sit back and enjoy the view as you travel to your next snowshoeing location – you’ll be back on the trail in no time. Make sure to include a coffee break on your drive, you won’t regret it, trust us!

Drive southward along the Cabot Trail towards the village of Baddeck.
Stop for a tasty lunch at the Dancing Goat Café & Bakery.
Hike a 1.5km trail to Uisge Bàn Falls.
Have supper at the Narrows Café and Bar at the Inverary Resort before checking in for the evening.

Day 3

Baddeck to East Bay – 101 km

Pack up the car and head to Sydney! Explore the downtown for a while before strapping on your snowshoes and hiking a new trail system tucked away in East Bay.

Drive towards Sydney and the downtown core.
Stop and enjoy lunch at Governor’s Pub & Eatery.
Snowshoe along the Ruins Walk at the Fortress of Louisbourg National Historic Site.
Leave for home knowing you’ll be back on the trails soon enough.

Head home knowing you’ve hiked over 10kms across some of Cape Breton Island’s most popular trails. While there are certainly more trails to explore by snowshoe this 3-day itinerary is the perfect way to introduce or recommit you to the wintery activity.
