Original oil, acrylic and mixed media paintings, inspired by the beauty of Nova Scotia, in particular Cape Breton-Unamaki.
“Melinda MacDonald is a full-time artist and seasonal gallery owner in Creignish, a picturesque corner of Cape Breton-Unamaki, in Nova Scotia. She is inspired by the epic views of the sea, sky and fields around her historic home overlooking St. Georges Bay. Her vibrant oil, acrylic and cold wax paintings capture the energy and beauty of her surroundings and her delight in her life there.
Melinda is happiest when she is making and sharing art. A life-long creative, her journey to a full-time art career began in 2015 when she brought the popular concept of painting and wine classes to Cape Breton Island and Eastern Nova Scotia. These evening events proved a great success, selling out instantly, and giving Melinda the spark she needed to establish her own studio practice.
In 2018, she opened Melinda By The Sea, a studio and shop housed in a historic barn on her oceanfront property. Along with her own original artwork, which is available in giclée and studio prints, Melinda sells a curated collection of fine craft from Cape Breton-Unamaki, including jewelry, bags and works in wood, glass and metal.”
