The Cape Breton Comedy Festival is excited to announce a new initiative with sponsor Mercer Fuels. The Comedy Festival’s Open Mic Nights will begin Wednesday December 18 at Breton Brewing with host Chad Sinclair.
“There are a lot of upcoming comics in Cape Breton, and open mics are an invaluable way to develop as a comic,” says Nick Beaton, co-founder of the Cape Breton Comedy Fest. “It’s where you can develop new material, experiment, and get your stage legs. With our festival being an annual event, this is a great way for the already existing talent on the island to hone their craft and be that much stronger when the festival comes in August 2025. We are very thankful Mercer Fuels and Breton Brewing teamed up with us to make this possible.”
Open mics events provide comedians with the opportunity to work on their art, perform new material and perfect their routines. New comedians are very welcome to come, try out stand up and get some stage experience. Up until this point, there were no regular scheduled open mics on the island. It was very important to the Cape Breton Comedy Festival to be able to provide these opportunities to local experienced comics and to attract new talent to the stage.
Entry fee is $10 per person and that will be donated to Breton Brewing’s charity of the month, which is Light Up A Life – Feed Nova Scotia in December. To reserve a table for these events please call Breton Brewing at 902 270 4677, showtime is 7:30PM.
